My Story
Every child deserves a champion, a grown up who will believe in them, someone who understands them and someone who knows that growing up can have its challenges. Lesley from Hey Coach is that champion.
Lesley has been working with children for what seems like forever as both a coach and counsellor, in between raising a family of 4 now adult children.
I'm a certified life coach and registered counsellor working with children throughout the Waikato in what I describe as a privileged position. I’m well known in many of our local schools as someone who can truly make that difference.
I’m honest, trustworthy, kind and compassionate and work with confidentiality – qualities you want to find in a child coach and counsellor. I provide a welcoming, safe environment for families so you feel comfortable opening up to tell me what’s in your heart and your head. Knowing that I have been there done that hopefully helps us build the relationship for me to go on to support your children with utmost respect.

My Approach
The greatest part of my job is watching children transform, to believe in themselves and to grow up with confidence. Every child deserves to be understood, they also need to be heard. Like adults, children also have a need to be loved and to feel connected. I have seen the difference this can make to the lives of children and that’s why I do what I do. Children don’t always understand the outside world and that they cannot control it but with support children can learn to control their own thoughts feelings and behaviours.

I empower children to meet and exceed their goals by having fun. Children learn so much in play and also by just enjoying themselves. In our sessions I have the opportunity to coach in the moment, emotional, social and academic coaching supports self-esteem, children in my sessions are encouraged to believe in themselves and understand that we are all different.

I listen to the children I work with ensuring them that I challenge any self-talk they have whilst encouraging them to be the best they can be by making their own decisions with positive energy and enthusiasm. I encourage them to achieve whatever they want in life, just like adults children need confidence.

I believe I am here to help make a difference, I’m here to help make change in the lives of children and to support and nurture the mind of our young kids. As a member of NZAC I am bound by a Code of Ethics which includes confidentiality. You will find I am committed to giving all the support needed for your children.
